A Niagara Falls man has been charged with criminal harassment after police say he sent a city councillor threatening emails over a two-week period.
Hamilton police say a man threatened several members of city council.
One was apparently sent on Oct. 4, when the city activated its emergency response, and officers could be seen searching rooms around the council chambers.
The email apparently referenced the recent Las Vegas shooting. Councillors wouldn't give details, but Coun. Jason Farr said the email was intense enough to warrant the response.
Niagara Regional Police Service helped with the investigation, which led to the 36-year-old being charged. He'll appear in Hamilton court Thursday.
Anyone with information should contact Det. Const. Andrea Kuruc at 905-546-4861 or Crime Stoppers.
