In the latest bid to preserve the former Parliament Oak School in Niagara on the Lake, town staff will be looking into a possible historical designation.
Residents and councillors alike have worried about the fate of the historic school as the District School Board of Niagara looks for a buyer.
On the front of the school, two stone engravings proudly claim one of the early sessions of the first parliament of Upper Canada was held there under the shade of an oak tree in 1793.
The town has attempted to buy the property multiple times - all of which were rejected.
