Niagara-on-the-Lake has deemed animal grooming as essential and will allow pet salons to reopen.
Town officials say they have received many inquiries about animal grooming and since the Ontario government says urgent veterinary services, and businesses that provide for the health and welfare of animals are essential, the businesses in the town can reopen to clients.
The town says business owners must follow all rules, including physical distancing.
Lord Mayor Betty Disero says they understand pets are more like family members and they know residents want to be able to access urgent care when it affects their pets' health.
Some of the rules groomers must follow are:
• Maintaining physical distancing (2 metres) at all times
• Cleaning and disinfecting all grooming tables, water bowls, etc. between every pet service
• Changing air filters every week to maintain clean, healthy air in the grooming salons
