A 32-year-old Hamilton man is facing child pornography charges after an investigation by Niagara Police.
In November of last year, the NRP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit started an investigation into several uploads of child sexual abuse material to a Google cloud-based storage service.
Niagara Police worked with Hamilton officers on the investigation and searched a home in Hamilton earlier today.
Officers seized a number of devices capable of storing electronic data.
Police say evidence uncovered at the scene resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Cody Alexander Fisher.
He is charged with one count of Possessing Child Pornography, one count of Accessing Child Pornography, and one charge for Failing to Comply with a Prohibition Order Regarding Children.
That restriction was imposed due to a previous criminal code conviction.
A bail hearing will be held in St. Catharines later today.
"Online platforms that allow like-minded users to create, share and store Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) are prevalent on the Internet. Offenders who try and hide their illegal CSAM collections behind an anonymous account in the “cloud” can be identified and will be held accountable for their actions." Niagara Regional Police
