A major infrastructure announcement in Niagara.
The federal government is committing $82 million over 10 years towards public transit in Niagara.
The provincial government also chipping in $67 million.
St.Catharines MP Chris Bittle joining CKTB's Larry Fedoruk saying hopefully this means the region can takeĀ the next steps in theĀ future of public transit.
He says if this means it's the next phase for inter-municipal transit he would delighted.
Bittle says each municipality will be able to decide where the funds should be used.
The top three municipalities to receive the cash will be St.Catharines with 47 million, Niagara Falls gets 20, and Welland will receive 8 million.
