Niagara's public health nurses could be going on strike if the region doesn't come out with a new offer.
Ontario Nurses Association president Linda Haslam-Stroud told Post Media if the region doesn't come back to the table in the next two weeks they will encourage nurses to reject the current offer.
The nurses want a 1.4% increase per year for the next two years, but the region has offered 1.2% instead according to Haslam-Stroud
Haslam-Stroud told the paper the 1.4% increase is comparable to what has been offered to nurses at Community Care Access Centres and nursing homes.
Regional Chair Alan Caslin is hopeful a strike can be avoided but says they need to find a balance between benefits and wages.
