Niagara residents are being introduced to the two companies that will be picking up their trash when new changes come into effect next month.
The region has announced Miller Waste Systems Inc. will be handling collection in Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Port Colborne, St. Catharines, and Welland.
GFL Environmental Inc. will be responsible for Grimsby, Lincoln, Pelham, Thorold, Wainfleet, and West Lincoln.
The new waste collection contract, split between the two companies, comes into effect on October 19th.
That is also the date when curbside garbage collection changes to every-other-week.
Blue, green, and grey boxes will still be picked up on a weekly basis.
