All of the Niagara Regional Police Service's frontline officers will soon carry Naloxone.
As of today, officers with the correct training will begin carrying Narcan Nasal Spray, primarily to help resuscitate fellow police members who accidentally come in contact with an opioid, resulting in an overdose.
Officials add if an emergency does arise, officers who have the approved training may administer Narcan to a member of the public if it is safe to do so and EMS are not on scene.
Training for all officers is expected to take 3 - 4 months.
