Niagara Regional Police will be stepping up patrols locally following the violence in Israel.
Police Chief Bryan MacCulloch says they have increased uniform patrols surrounding places of worship, cultural centres, synagogues, mosques and schools and are committed to taking all measures possible to ensure that all citizens in Niagara feel safe.
He says the police force is aware of the worldwide call for civil unrest Friday and through this upcoming weekend.
He says they have not identified a credible threat to Jewish communities in Niagara, but they are in contact with Provincial and Federal partners, and will continue to closely monitor the situation.
Toronto's Police Chief also says while there are no specific credible threats, police divisions have been directed to ``ensure a high visibility presence,'' and increased patrols.
