Niagara residents who won't be able to make it to a polling station during the municipal election are being reminded to set up a voting proxy.
Officials with the Niagara Region encourage anyone using a proxy for the municipal election next month to vote during advance polling dates to allow for additional processing time.
A proxy is a person appointed to cast a ballot on behalf of a voter due to an absence.
To set one up, appointees must fill out the Appointment for Voting Proxy paperwork, which can be found on niagaravotes.ca, in the Voter's Guide, or at the municipal clerk's office.
The clerk will then certify the form and the proxy must vote at the location of the elector they are representing.
More information on proxy voting can be found on niagaravotes.ca.
