The anonymous grocery angel in Niagara has struck again.
Welland is receiving a truckload of groceries on Thursday, May 14, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Welland’s Market Square.
Volunteers from the City of Welland and Open Arms Mission of Welland will be on hand to help distribute the groceries.
Items will be handed out with social distancing to ensure safety, and all volunteers will wear personal protective equipment.
Organizers are asking that people who have face coverings to wear them when picking up the food.
All are welcome to come to Market Square to receive free groceries while quantities last.
Other anonymous food donations have occurred in St. Catharines and Thorold.
The food donations come in a time of need, with many families, seniors, and vulnerable people struggling with financial concerns during the pandemic.
“We’re grateful to accept this generous donation,” said Mayor Frank Campion. “This type of philanthropy is critical as residents navigate through these difficult times.”
