Niagara's Police Chief has been appointed to a prestigious order.
Chief Bryan MacCulloch is being named to the Order of Merit of Police Forces for his contributions to the community beyond his regular policing responsibilities.
In the past, MacCulloch has served as a board member and past chair for Victim Services Niagara, former executive member of the Welland Minor Hockey Association Board of Directors, and even coached minor hockey and soccer.
In a release, MacCulloch says, "I am very humbled to have been nominated and to have been selected to receive this very prestigious award. It's been an honour to work alongside the many dedicated men and women of the Niagara Regional Police Service, both sworn and civilian, to serve our community."
Deputy Chief Bill Fordy nominated MacCulloch and says "Chief MacCulloch is a highly principled leader that truly cares about the people that he leads and the community he serves. He is a good man and one of the finest police leaders in this country."
A ceremony with Governor General Julie Payette will be held in the coming months in Ottawa.
