Niagara's former top cop wants to set the record straight following a statement by the Regional Chair on CKTB.
On Monday, the police services board unveiled an $870,000 retirement package paid out to former Chief Jeff McGuire.
Speaking to CKTB's Matt Holmes, Alan Caslin said "Jeff provided 7 years of great service for Niagara, and it was sad to see him go, but he did want to retire so that is what he did."
McGuire sent CKTB a message stating "I can assure you that I did not want or agree to retire until such time as the retirement agreement was finalized"
McGuire said he planned to serve the terms of his extended contract to 2020 but says "I was made an offer that I simply could not refuse."
