Niagara's living wage is going up.
The Niagara Poverty Reduction Network has calculated the hourly wage needed to pay expenses while still having enough money left over to spend in the community.
The living wage for 2019 is pegged at $18.12 - up from $17.99 cents in 2018.
Ontario's minimum wage is $14 per hour.
Officials say housing, child care, transportation, and food accounted for 71% of the total cost of living expenses.
Currently, the network has named 28 certified living wage employers in Niagara.
Collectively they employ more than 1,000 people.
