The region's acting medical officer of health is proposing a two pronged approach to help prevent any more suicides in Niagara.
Yesterday we learned Doctor Mustafa Hirji will present a report to the region's public works committee asking councillors to approve spending 3.5 million on suicide prevention barriers on the Burgoyne Bridge.
The MOH will also present another report to the Public Health committee, asking for funding to hire two specialists to launch a pair of mental health training programs.
The goal will be to help train the public, health care professionals and social workers in suicide prevention.
