Niagara voters made one thing very clear after Monday's municipal election --- they wanted change.
Of the 12 municipalities in the region, seven will have new mayors and most have new regional councillors.
Mayors elected include Walter Sendzik in St.Catharines, Jim Diodati in Niagara Falls, Frank Campion in Welland, Terry Ugulini in Thorold, Jeff Jordan in Grimsby, Wayne Redekop in Fort Erie, Sandra Easton in Lincoln, Dave Bylsma in West Lincoln, Betty Disero in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Marvin Junkin in Pelham, Bill Steele in Port Colborne, and in Wainfleet Kevin Gibson.
In St.Catharines, out of 23 candidates, successful Regional Councillors include long-time former MPP Jim Bradley, George Darte, Sandie Bellows, Laura Ip, Brian Heit, and Tim Rigby.
Controversial Regional Chair Alan Caslin will not return to regional politics placing almost in last place.
Caslin came in 20th place with 1.43 percent of the vote.
Niagara Falls will be represented by two new regional councillors with Peter Nicholson and Barbara Greenwood joining Bob Gale.
