Mayoral candidate Alfred Kiers says the issue in Wainfleet this election comes down to development versus non-development.
He says people want to see development but not the "Binbrook style."
Kiers says he'd be interested in seeing more small industrial businesses in the community - not big business.
Region representation is another issue.
Residents are telling him they want a strong voice at the Region because they feel their community is being left behind.

Candidate Ken Martin also see issues with the Region.
He says "it's coming to the point where the Region is taking all our money and we're getting nothing in return."
Martin sees amalgamation between Wainfleet, Port Colborne and Fort Erie as a possible solution between.
The mayoral hopeful says anything that takes the burden off the tax base would be welcome.

Development is the concern for candidate Andrew Watts.
He says provincial projections for growth are at odds with what's on the town's planning books.
Watts says "we are told by upper tiers what we should do," so it's about time Wainfleet asked for compensation.
He says just building more houses to add a tax base "doesn't cut it."
The candidate says there's a simple solution - the province and region need to help Wainfleet.
