It's voting day across the province, as Ontarians cast ballots in the municipal election.
Polls open at 10:00 this morning and close at 8:00 tonight.
In Niagara, the spotlight has been shining on regional council after a four year term chock full of controversy, from biodiversity offsetting to the tainted hiring scandal surrounding the region's CAO.
Several regional councillors have decided not to seek re-election including Niagara Falls councillor Bart Maves, Port Colborne's Dave Barrick and St. Catharines councillor Andy Petrowski.
In West Lincoln voters will cast a ballot for regional council for the first time after an extra seat was added in the municipality.
Five brand new mayors will be elected in Grimsby, Pelham, Port Colborne, Wainfleet and Thorold, after the incumbents decided not to seek re-election.
Thorold mayor Ted Luciani and Pelham Mayor Dave Augustyn have decided to seek a spot on regional council instead.
The race for mayor in Niagara Falls will be interesting.
Incumbent Jim Diodati is up against councillor Kim Craitor along with newcomers Dinah Lilliah Mansour and Kip Finn.
Diodati is battling cancer and Craitor is being dogged by allegations of sexual harassment stemming from his time as a Liberal MPP.
