There are two candidates vying for the position of Mayor in Thorold.
Current Regional Councillor, and former Mayor Henry D'Angela is running alongside City Councillor Terry Ugulini.

D'Angela's priorities include economic development, housing, and managing the growth in the city.
He says the state of regional politics is the worst he has ever seen, and he has supported an audit to investigate the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and a review into the CAO hiring fiasco.
He says work needs to continue on those matters to make sure the public is educated on what's happening at the Regional Council table.
When it comes to Thorold hosting a retail marijuana store, he says more research would need t be done.
He says Thorold needs someone who is forward thinking to manage development.

When it comes to his city hosting a marijuana retail store, Ugulini says the new elected council will make a decision based on a staff report due.
