A Niagara on the Lake wedding photographer has pleaded guilty to engaging in unfair practice and to 9 counts of failure to refund contrary to the Consumer Protection Act.
Jesse Stockton was placed on probation for two years and is required to make consecutive restitution payments of $406 per month to the victims for the duration of his probation.
Stockton must also complete 50 hours of community service.
Stockton contracted with several consumers to provide wedding related photography and/or videography services.
The majority of the consumers cancelled the contract but did not receive a refund of monies paid in deposit totalling more than $10,000 which they were entitled to receive under the consumer protection legislation.
Provincial officials are reminding consumers to check the ministry's Consumer’s Beware List before entering a contract with any company.
