Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador wont have to start dialing an extra three numbers on their phones.
The CRTC has decided there is no need at the time to introduce 10 digit dialing in the province so residents get to hang on to their seven digit numbers for now.
Last year the CRTC announced a plan to introduce the extra three numbers in Newfoundland by the summer of 2018.
The move comes after the agency looked at a number of factors including population growth and changes in market share.
Ontario began the move to 10 digit dialing in 2005 when the 905 and 416 area code numbers became depleted.
