No charges are being laid after a dead dog was found outside in a cage in Fort Erie.
An Attar Metals employee stumbled upon the frozen pooch at the end of Dunlop Street last Friday, sparking outrage on social media.
Niagara This Week reports the owner has come forward, expressing remorse for the actions.
The dog owner told the paper the German Shepherd mix died on Christmas Day, and although he attempted to bury the animal after its death, the ground was too hard.
The paper reports when he came forward to the SPCA he was given a written warning for improper disposal of a dead animal.
An official with the Fort Erie SPCA has not been able to find any signs of abuse, and says it doesn't look like the animal starved to death either.
