Some scary moments at the Washington Mills plant in Niagara Falls after an explosion.
Smoke could be seen coming from the plant on Stanley Ave. after the explosion at 7:49am today.
VP of Operations at Washington Mills Sandro Borghesi tells CKTB no employees were in the area of the plant when it occurred.
He confirms no one was hurt, there is no ongoing fire, and no environmental concerns.
Borghesi says sheeting on the side of building came loose so they're making sure it's fixed before anyone goes back into that area.
An investigator from Niagara Falls Fire is holding the scene until the Fire Marshall's office arrives.
Washington Mills says it is one of the world’s largest producers of abrasives and fused mineral products.
