There were no apparent fireworks in the first meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U-S President Donald Trump.

A subdued and polite Trump told Trudeau in a joint news conference that ``America is deeply fortunate to have a neighbour like Canada.''

He added American and Canadian troops have ``shed their blood together.''

Trudeau declared, ``no other neighbours in the entire world are as fundamentally linked as we are.''

Later, answering questions from reporters, Trump suggested the U-S is only interested in ``tweaking'' the North American Free Trade Agreement when it comes to Canada.
