The interim president of St. Michael's all-boys school in Toronto says only the football program has been axed for next year because of the dynamics on those teams.
At the same time, Reverend Andrew Leung says there is no reason to suspend any of the coaches at the private Roman Catholic school.
The school has expelled eight students amid allegations of student-on-student abuse.
Six students face criminal charges.
Leung also says an independent panel will report to the board by next summer.
He says it will be up to the board to decide if any of the report will be made public.
