The federal government has failed to get a deal with provincial finance and health ministers on health care funding.
It pulled billions of dollars off the negotiating table Monday after failing to reach a long-term health-care funding agreement with frustrated provincial and territorial health and finance ministers.
Ottawa sweetened its offer somewhat at midday in the face of withering criticism that it wasn't bargaining in good faith, but the additional $3 billion over 10 years wasn't enough to bridge the widening gap between the two sides.
But Prince Edward Island Premier Wade MacLauchlan says this isn't the end.
Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau says the federal Liberals thought it was a good deal and he's disappointed provincial officials didn't agree
MacLauchlan is stressing this is not an impasse -- he just says there is a lot more work to do.
