For the first time in nearly six decades there will be no Around the Bay road race in Hamilton.
Organizors decided to pull the plug on the 126th version of the race, because of a growing list of unknown factors in light of the pandemic, including how many runners would actually take part in the annual event
Because money has already been spent on shirts, medals and other race related expenses any runners who signed up will not get their money back.
Instead they can defer their fees to 2021 or 2022 or request a t-shirt and medal.
It's hoped a special "Return to the Bay" race can run in March.
The move will have a significant impact on St Joseph's Health Care and other charities that benefited from the fundraiser.
