Niagara on the Lake councillors are expected to decide today whether or not to pass a bylaw requiring face masks be worn in indoor public settings.
The topic will be discussed at a special meeting of council, set to get underway at 2:00 this afternoon.
Lord Mayor Betty Disero says there are some town residents who don't agree because they argue, they alone have the right to decide if they should cover their face.
Disero says she agrees with that, if their right to decide was in fact for their own health.
But she adds the problem is, they are deciding the fate of others.
If passed, the town would become the second municipality in Niagara to make face masks mandatory.
Starting tomorrow, masks will be mandatory in indoor public spaces across St. Catharines.
