Niagara on the Lake residents can expect a knock on the door this month from a member of their local fire department.
Volunteer firefighters from all five stations will go door to door, hoping to reach 500 homes in total, to inspect smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
The firefighters will also be handing out free alarms as needed during their home visits.
Residents are also encouraged to test their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes and ensure that a smoke alarm is installed on every story, including the basement.
