Small town Niagara is embracing the opportunity to offer public transportation at a reasonable price.
Niagara on the Lake has become the latest town to sign onto the region's new NRT OnDemand service.
The service runs like an Uber, with residents booking a trip on an app downloaded onto their smartphone.
Users are then matched with multiple passengers headed in the same direction and are directed to get picked up at a nearby corner, or “virtual bus stop" by a high capacity vehicle complete with plexiglas barriers.
The service is also available in Pelham, Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln and Wainfleet.
