Some very small fires have ignited in Niagara-on-the-Lake at the scene of a massive car fire Sunday.
NOTL Fire Chief Rob Grimwood tells CKTB the towing process of the 34 burnt-out cars sparked a few small blazes in the hayfield.
He says they were sparked by a combination of the heat and gas.
The towing process started yesterday and since then 27 cars have been removed from the field on Niagara Stone Road.
It was on Sunday the fast moving fire started under one car and then spread to others parked in the field for the Niagara Lavender Festival.
Grimwood says he warned festival organizers about the danger of fire given the dry conditions.
Organizers have not responded to CKTB's request for comment on the incident.
One fire truck is on the scene this afternoon wetting the ground during the towing process and putting out the small fires.
