With more people hiking the trails along the Niagara River, parks police issuing what may be a record number of offence notices.
Niagara Parks police chief Paul Forcier says his officers issued 31 trespassing notices which carry a fine of $50.
He says he realizes that may not be much of a deterrent and that's why the Niagara Parks Commission is looking at creating a new offence in order to keep people on the marked trails.
But he addsm in the meantime, the NPC could have repeat offenders arrested or sent to court where they could face a much higher fine.
Forcier says he understands we are in a little bit of a selfie culture and the younger generation tends to be more adventurous but safety has to be the priority.
