The Mayor of West Lincoln and Chair of the NPCA Board is commenting following a call for his resignation over climate change beliefs.
Dave Bylsma, who is also the National President of the Christian Heritage Party, tells CKTB regardless of the party's denial of man-made climate change, he is fit to lead the NPCA.
The group, For Our Kids Niagara, has sent an open letter to board members with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority asking for Bylsma to resign from the authority.
Bylsma says the main reason he is part of the CHP is because of his pro-life stance, and just because he is part of a party doesn't mean he stands for every single item in its platform.
He says the idea that he denies climate change is a 'false narrative' and there will always be people who call you out and embarrass you.
When asked if he believes in 'man-made climate change' he says the answer is more complex.
You can hear his explanation here.
He says he has a record with the NPCA of turning things around, and he is committed to the authority's mandate.
He says the board is a democracy.
For Our Kids Niagara plans on attending the next NPCA meeting on January 15th.
