The NPCA is firing back at OPSEU following a news conference earlier today.
The union hosted a news conference this morning calling for recent layoffs at the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority to be rescinded.
Eight workers were laid off late last month.
President Smokey Thomas speaking at the St.Catharines event saying the union won't stop until justice is served.
Thomas saying he would love to talk to the Authority's CAO Mark Brickell.
Brickell appearing this afternoon in a live Facebook address.
He says there is a lot of noise and allegations that are incorrect about the NPCA.
Brickell says he wants to sit down with all the politicians who have been critical of the authority, including Welland MPP Cindy Forster and Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates and he would like to sit down with Thomas to discuss concerns.
Welland MPP Cindy Forster spoke at the OPSEU event this morning saying 9 municipal councils have called for a forensic audit of the NPCA and it's time to take a closer look into the authority's books.
Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates says the NPCA is trying to break the union in Niagara.
Chair Sandy Annunziata says instead of running to the media and airing their concerns, it's time Forster and Gates called the NPCA instead of the media.
Forster's media representative Mike Haines appearing at the NPCA event saying Forster is simply asking questions and only has the public's best interest in mind.
Haines pointing out to what happened to former Board Member, and Lincoln Regional Councillor Bill Hodgson.
Hodgson resigned from the board of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority following a vote to censure him.
OPSEU President Smokey Thomas will join CKTB's Larry Fedoruk at 4:15 today.
Brickell will join us after the 4:30 news.
