The NPCA has a new Acting CAO.
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority Board today announced the appointment of Mark Brickell as Acting Chief Administrative Officer, effective Friday, April 28.
Peter Graham, the current CAO will assume his previous role as Director, Watershed Management.
Mark Brickell is currently the Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives.
NPCA Chair, Sandy Annunziata says that Peter Graham has done an excellent job as Acting CAO and has taken on a challenging role, and shown professionalism.
He says he has every bit of confidence that Brickell will be able to continue moving the organization forward in the interim.
The CAO position has been vacant since November 2016.
A CAO selection process is underway.
The selection committee will be interviewing candidates in May, and anticipate that the selection process will be complete by July 2017.
"We have a large group of highly qualified candidates that will be involved in the search for our next CAO.", said Annunziata. "The 2014-2017 Strategic Plan is nearing completion. I look forward to reviewing the assessment of the effectiveness of the inaugural plan and engaging our partners in drafting a new Plan for 2018."
At last week's meeting the board voted to abandon that RFP process and reengage the Auditor General's office to help with the investigation into suspect business practices at the NPCA.
The NPCA agreed to the probe back in January after community members, 8 area municipalities and local MPP's joined calls for an audit of some alleged suspect business practices.
The province's auditor general offered to conduct the review free of charge but was turned down.
At the time, Board Chair Sandy Annunizata suggested the auditor could be considered for the second part of the probe.
