Some action from the interim board of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority following yesterday's board meeting.
Members voting in favour of taking a better look at the 2019 budget that was approved by the controversial outgoing board in November, striking a budget review committee.
Hamilton member Brenda Johnson said she had some concerns with the budget passed by the previous board "I'm looking at just the CAO administration expenditures, and I'm looking at the actual, then I see a budget, then I see the variance, then I see another variance, then I see a budget, so I'd really like to just get some more detail"
Board members also opted to slash the Niagara Region's portion of a 1.6 million dollar special levy and have agreed to hire an external agency to conduct a forensic accounting human resources audit.
St. Catharines Councillor Brian Heit cited a number of discrepancies in the budget documents the new board has received "I've got NPCA documents that I received from former Board Member Bruce Timms that show $449,186 in the 2019 budget added to $1.646,000 million, but in this document it says zero dollars, so theres issues"
During the meeting Chair Dave Bylsma informed members the Region intends to extend the interim boards term by an additional three months.
Regional Council is expected to deal with that at their February 28th meeting.
