As parts of Brantford remains under an evacuation order due to flooding, the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority is keeping a close eye on our local waterways.
Water Resource Technician Ryan Kitchen says waters are running high in some places.
"Some of the smaller tributaries to the Welland River and Twenty Mile Creek are starting to recede, so they're starting to decline. But the Welland River and Twenty Mile Creek proper, the larger watersheds, are still running high."
Kitchen expects those levels to remain high into the weekend.
Although right now, the NPCA does not foresee any major flooding, Kitchen says they are keeping a close eye on some areas.
"Smithville which is on Twnety Mile Creek, that is one of the larger areas with population centres around Twenty Mile Creek. There's also Wellandport out in West Lincoln-Wainfleet area, they're a concern right now. Water levels are high through there. And the city of Welland as well."
