The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation is now accepting applications for this year’s Rt. Hon. John Turner Water & Environmental Leadership Award.
The awards recognize outstanding work in environmental and water improvement, education and/or leadership.
Individuals or organizations within the NPCA watershed including Niagara, Hamilton, Haldimand can apply or be nominated.

Last year, the Individual Award went to Mr. Bruce Mackenzie, a 64-year old retiree of the Hamilton Conservation Authority, who secured over 90 acres for nature sanctuaries, and volunteered at the annual Hawkwatch event at Beamer Conservation Area for 43 years.
Students at Central Public School in Grimsby, under the leadership of Ms. Julie Arsenault-Howick and with the support of their principal, Mr. Mario Zeoli, took home the Organizational Award for their work understanding the importance of water.
The students took part in a shoreline cleanup of 40 Mile Creek that collected 23 kg of garbage and 13 kg of recycling.
