Niagara police are reminding cyclists to "Lock it or Lose it" when it comes to bicycles in Niagara Region.
Police say during the summer, the number of bike thefts typically increases.
Stolen bicycles range from low to high end models, and are easy targets for thieves who are able to remove them quickly from exterior car bike racks with bolt cutters.
In Niagara Falls, the street crime unit is taking a "proactive approach" and has dedicated resources to patrolling known bike theft locations.
As a result about 20 stolen bicycles have been recovered that have remained unclaimed.
Residents are asked to contact Constable Craig Zsoldos at craig.zsoldos@niagarapolice.ca or (905) 688-4111, dial option 3, Badge# 9552 to inquire about recovered bicycles.
Nineteen people have been arrested and charged.
