A few drivers will have a tough time getting around this long weekend after Niagara Regional Police got an early start on RIDE checks.
Around 330 vehicles were stopped at checkpoints in Welland and Niagara Falls last night.
One driver was arrested after blowing over the legal limit, while two others received 3 day licence suspensions when their breath tests landed in the 'warning' range.
During the course of the evening, officers also found one driver who had been banned from driving a vehicle for life. He was arrested and the vehicle was seized for 45 days.
A handful of drivers were also charged with having alcohol and cannabis readily available.
Police say they will be setting up several RIDE checks over the weekend, and expect to see increased general patrol as well.
