Niagara Regional Police handing out 13 tickets during a vehicle safety blitz in Lincoln today.
NRP officers, along with the MTO, conducted vehicle inspections focusing on heavy commercial vehicles and contractors, roofers and landscape vehicles operating in the urban area of Beamsville.
14 vehicles were given complete safety inspections to ensure they were mechanically fit to operate safely on the roadways, and to ensure their documentation was complete.
Officers laid 13 provincial offence notices for various offences including overweight violations and both major and minor defects, including issues with vehicle braking systems.
One vehicle in particular was overweight 1000kgs over the safe operating limits of the vehicle's rear axle.
NRP say the vast majority of operators and owners are fully compliant with the laws and regulations, but there are a few in the industry that operate unsafely that endanger the residents and visitors of the Niagara Region.
More inspections are expected this summer.
