Niagara Regional Police is offering a 50 thousand dollar reward to help them close a case dating back seven years.
The offer comes in regards to the alleged murder of 74 year old Livia Beirnes who was unable to escape the burning basement of her home at 11 Oakwood Avenue in St. Catharines back on August 4th, 2010.
On the night of the fire Mrs. Beirnes, who lived alone, could be heard calling for help by area neighbours who rushed the scene in an effort to help.
Firefighters found Mrs. Beirnes bound in the basement of her home, she died in hospital the next day.
Detectives have been actively investigating this case since 2010 and are determined to find the person or persons responsible for her death in order to bring some closure to the Beirnes family.
The 50 thousand dollar reward is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
