An officer with the Niagara Regional Police has been arrested following an incident in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
An investigation into the incident by the NRP began late May 2017.
The incident occurred while the officer was off duty and involved a dispute with a person known to him.
During this dispute, the officer allegedly assaulted the man.
No one was injured.
As a result, Niagara Regional Police Constable Dan Johnson has been arrested and charged with the alleged offence of assault.
Constable Johnson has been released on an Officer in Charge Undertaking with a court date of August 30th, 2017 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
He has been a police officer with the NRPS for 29 years.
In accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario, Johnson has been suspended with pay pending further investigation.
