It's become common practice that when police issue an Amber Alert members of the public complain.
Niagara Regional Police Media Relations Specialist Stephanie Sabourin says yesterday's alert, that went out shortly after 12:30 in the afternoon, was no exception.
"It's always unfortunate, that seconds after we had sent out the first amber alert, after it was broadcast, we had people complaining about the noise, people complaining about the interruption asking how they can turn it off, and the reality is we had a child who was in danger, and the alert is designed to assist them and in this case it worked."
Sabourin says police have a strict protocol to follow before they issue such alerts, which includes when a child may be in imminent danger.
She says Sunday's incident met the criteria.
