Niagara's police budget has been approved.
Regional Councillor and NRPS Board Chair Bob Gale joined CKTB saying the operating budget was finalized at a 2.15 percent increase for 2017 earlier today.
The total budget is 137 million dollars.
That makes the police budget about a third of the entire region's operating budget.
Gale says he understands most residents will not be happy with any sort of an increase.
The capital budget was approved back in the summer when it was decided that the NRP would get a new boat, but would not get an armoured vehicle.
The budget signed off on today, and will go to the region for final approval.
The grand opening of the new police headquarters in Niagara Falls will be held November 16th at 1:30pm with tours on that day for the public to take a look.
