The Niagara Regional Police Service has officially welcomed its newest Deputy Chief.
Deputy Chief Bill Fordy is joining the the NRP from the RCMP in British Columbia where he oversaw several units including the Lower Mainlaind Emergency Response Team.
Fordy is a Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces and has received multiple awards including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
He has also received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Simon Fraser University.
Though his introduction ceremony was this afternoon, Deputy Chief Fordy had his first day last Tuesday June 27th.
He says he has spent his first week acquainting himself with the culture of the NRP and that he has received a warm welcome.
When it comes to the appointment of a new Chief of Police, Fordy says he isn't part of the decision, but that Deputy Chief Bryan MacCulloch has impressed him so far.
