Today marks the start of the school year and that means Niagara police will be out in full force on this morning and again this afternoon for their 18th annual back to school traffic safety and awareness day.
Dozens of officers will patrol school zones around the region, focusing on motorists who are speeding or driving aggressively and not paying attention to students and crossing guards.
The NRP also remind drivers and cyclists that all traffic must stop in both directions for a stopped school bus with its upper red lights flashing.
They must remain stopped until the red flashing lights and turned off and the bus begins to move.
