Niagara officers are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck in St. Catharines.
Last evening around 7:00pm, Niagara officers were called for a report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a van in St. Catharines.
Emergency personnel attended to the intersection of Welland Avenue and Vine Street South.
The 30-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene due to his injuries.
The initial investigation has determined that the pedestrian had been in the roadway when they were struck by an east bound grey Toyota Sienna van.
The driver of the van, a 71-year-old man from St. Catharines remained on scene and is co-operating with the investigating officers.
The intersection of Welland Avenue and Vine Street South had been closed for the investigation but has since re-opened.
