A Canada-wide shortage of OR nurses is being felt in Niagara.
There is no obstetrical care on weekends at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby.
Hamilton Health Sciences calls it a safety measure in case a caesarean section or other post-birth surgery is required.
The hospital says women who go into labour between 3 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday can deliver at McMaster University Medical Centre or a hospital in the region.
In the meantime, the hospital is looking for nurses and is offering a signing bonus of up to $30,000 for out-of-province nurses.
The hospital has been issuing job postings on its Facebook page.
