Come this fall, cottage owners in Ontario are in for a big change to their hydro bills.
The Ontario Energy Board is ending the discount for owners who only use their properties seasonally.
Some bills could jump by a whopping 130 percent.
Krystyna Williams with the Christie Lake Associaton says it could be the last straw for people trying to hold on to their property.
She says despite what some may think, not everyone who has a a cottage has a wad of cash, adding many are seniors on a fixed income.
She points out seasonal cottage users are already taxed 30 per cent higher than residents.
Williams believes the change was made because energy delivery has been so poorly managed in Ontario for years and discontinuing the seasonal benefit is a way to get some money back.
